Frank Ocean fans 'heartbroken' as Tyler, The Creator’s 'Chromakopia' drops without rumored feature

Tyler, The Creator’s much-anticipated album, 'Chromakopia', released on Monday, has fans disappointed after discovering that Frank Ocean does not appear on any of the tracks. 

Leading up to the release, fans speculated wildly about a potential guest appearance from Ocean, the singer behind hits like 'Thinkin Bout You', with many hoping for a surprise collaboration.

A few hints sparked the rumors, including the album’s release date coinciding with Ocean’s 37th birthday and Tyler’s music video for “Noid,” which featured a white Ferrari, a reference to Ocean’s “White Ferrari” from his 2016 album, 'Blonde'. 

The cryptic vocals teased in a clip of “St Chroma” also fueled fan hopes, with some immediately assuming Ocean was involved. It was later revealed that the vocals belonged to Daniel Caesar.

Despite the buildup, *Chromakopia*’s final 14-song track list features collaborations with artists like GloRilla, Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, and Childish Gambino, but not Ocean. 

Following the album’s release, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustration, with one fan writing, “I was hoping for a surprise Frank Ocean feature on 'Chromakopia' for his 37th birthday I guess it was not meant to be.”

Another disappointed fan posted, “The new Tyler the Creator album is absolutely amazing. BUT WHERES FRANK OCEAN?” And for some, the absence was personal: “Frank Ocean not being in Tyler’s album was my biggest heartbreak of the month.”

Others chimed in, pointing out the fan speculation, with one saying, “Kinda wish people would stop expecting Frank Ocean to be on every Tyler project lol y’all just end up disappointing yourselves.” Another echoed, “No Frank Ocean feature in 'Chromakopia', you all were just being delusional.”

Frank Ocean and Tyler share a long-standing friendship that dates back to Ocean’s time with Tyler’s collective, Odd Future, in 2009. 

Ocean, who featured on Tyler’s track “She” from his album 'Goblin' in 2011, has since become an acclaimed artist in his own right. Known for albums like 'Channel Orange' (2012) and 'Blonde' (2016), Ocean has maintained a long hiatus from music, with fans still awaiting his next project.

While Ocean’s fans continue to hope for new music, Tyler’s 'Chromakopia' release was just the beginning of his next chapter. 

He announced a world tour in support of the album, kicking off February 2 in Minnesota, with stops across North America and Europe planned through April.
