Rapper Lil Durk was apprehended on October 25, 2024, as reported by Reuters, suspected of orchestrating a murder as the leader of his hip-hop collective, Only the Family, in 2022. Durk was detained near an airport where he was reportedly about to board a flight leaving the United States, according to the criminal complaint.

DJ Akademiks, in a recent October 28, 2024, livestream, suggested that the timing of Durk’s arrest was due to federal authorities believing he might flee, prompting them to detain him. Akademiks also hinted at the possibility of “a grand jury indictment,” stating: "I think, is not only gonna have this murder for hire, it's gonna be a superseding indictment. It might be racketeering. Or it might have other murders and other attempted murders. That's gonna be the big bang."

An FBI affidavit dated October 25, 2024, alleges that Lil Durk has been charged with conspiring to commit murder-for-hire related to the death of Saviay'a Robinson, who was fatally shot on August 19, 2022.

During his October 28, 2024, livestream, DJ Akademiks also claimed that additional attempted murders might be included in a comprehensive indictment against Durk.

This arrest reportedly involves an attempted attack on Quando Rondo, and according to Akademiks: "When the feds unseal this indictment, they're gonna have every attempt on Quando Rondo's life. There was supposedly like three or four before. They might have FBG Cash, they might have other situations. They might bring back that Atlanta joint back that he was co-defendants with Von."

Since Durk’s incarceration, Akademiks has been frequently livestreaming updates on the case. During his October 25, 2024, livestream, he appeared shocked after viewing Durk’s mugshot, initially laughing about the arrest before realizing its seriousness. He commented: "He's in Florida. I got the whole thing on my stream I got it! Oh my god bro! I pulled it up myself ni**a! He's locked up ni**a!...I was hoping this was all a big a** joke."

On October 26, 2024, DJ Akademiks shared a clip from a 2023 interview with Lil Durk where he questioned the rapper about fan comments like "slide for Von," referring to fans asking whether he intended to avenge the death of King Von, another Only the Family member who was shot in November 2020. Durk responded: “For some reason I just don’t see them comments no more.”
