PTI vows strict action against dissenting members over constitutional amendments

PTI parliamentary committee also approves schedule for nationwide rallies and a protest movement

The parliamentary committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to take strict action against members who have rebelled over constitutional amendments.

The committee also approved a schedule for nationwide rallies and a protest movement, Express News reported on Monday. The meeting was chaired by opposition leader Omar Ayub, with Secretary General Salman Akram Raja making a special appearance.

During the meeting, the PTI parliamentary party approved participation in the Judicial Commission and endorsed decisions made by the political committee. Additionally, the committee agreed on a plan for rallies across the country, emphasising the commitment of assembly members to participate actively.

The meeting reviewed the current National Assembly session, the 26th amendment, and the prevailing political situation. It also discussed legal strategies to pursue political cases against the founder of PTI.

A statement released following the meeting indicated that vigorous and effective protests would continue against the unjust detention of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The parliamentary committee expressed strong appreciation for the assembly members, particularly those from Punjab, stating that all members have stood firmly with the founder’s ideology.

Moreover, the committee reached a consensus on taking disciplinary action against members who have betrayed the party over the constitutional amendment issue, committing to see the disciplinary measures through to a logical conclusion.
