NDMA scales up humanitarian aid to Gaza, Lebanon

Dispatches humanitarian relief consignments through two NLC road convoys

ISLAMABAD:

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has scaled up humanitarian aid to the war-affected people of Gaza and Lebanon under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The disaster management authority on Sunday dispatched its 15th and 16th humanitarian relief consignments through two NLC road convoys, each carrying 100 tons of winterized tents and blankets, from Islamabad to Amman, Jordan for the people of Gaza and Beirut, Lebanon.

In total, 1,598 tons of relief items have been sent to the affected people of Gaza and Lebanon, according to a news release.

The send-off ceremony at the Islamabad International Airport was attended by Members of National Assembly (MNAs) Malik Ibrar and Raja Qamarul Islam, Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan Zuhair MH Darzaid, Lebanese Ambassador to Pakistan Ghassan Khatib and representatives of the NDMA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the armed forces.

During the ceremony, the parliamentarians stressed the urgent need to provide relief to the war-affected populations of Palestine and Lebanon due to the ongoing conflict and the needs of these communities.

They reaffirmed the Pakistani government's commitment to supporting their brothers and sisters in distress while stressing the importance of collaboration by welfare organisations as well as the Pakistani public in strengthening these efforts.

Both ambassadors extended their profound gratitude to the government and the people of Pakistan for their unwavering humanitarian assistance during times of need.
