National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has escalated relief efforts, sending the 15th and 16th humanitarian consignments for people affected by the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.

Each shipment carried 100 tons of essential winter supplies, including tents and blankets, and departed from Islamabad to Amman for Gaza and Beirut for Lebanon, the NDMA reported on Saturday.

The send-off ceremony at Islamabad International Airport saw attendance from members of Pakistan’s Parliament, NDMA officials, Foreign Office representatives, and Armed Forces personnel.

The Palestinian and Lebanese Ambassadors to Pakistan, Zuhair MH Darzaid and Ghassan Khatib, were also present and expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s assistance.

“The generosity and compassion demonstrated by Pakistan serve as a beacon of hope and a testament to our shared commitment to peace and justice,” Palestinian Ambassador Darzaid said.

Lebanese Ambassador Khatib highlighted that Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance had provided critical relief to those suffering amid conflict.

To date, Pakistan has sent 1,598 tons of relief items to Gaza and Lebanon, with previous shipments from Karachi, including food, hygiene kits, and clothing.

In a further show of support, Pakistan has launched the ‘Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gaza and Lebanon’ to collect public donations, ensuring continued aid to “our Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters,” as officials described.

The government reaffirmed its solidarity with Palestinian and Lebanese communities, with Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh saying that Pakistan “remains committed to supporting those in need.”
