PESHAWAR:

The advocate general of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has requested additional time to submit a response in a petition filed against the deteriorating security situation and rising incidents of terrorism in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The court has instructed him to file the response by October 30. A written order from the previous hearing has also been issued.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court, highlighting that various districts in the province are experiencing terrorist incidents and poor security conditions, forcing the relocation of courts from some districts. This situation has created challenges for judicial officers and lawyers.

Meanwhile, a bench of Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Waqar Ahmad of the Peshawar High Court issued a brief order on the case, noting the presence of the advocate general representing the provincial government and a representative of the federal government. He requested additional time to submit a response, which the court granted, ordering the provincial government to submit the response within four days. The next hearing is scheduled for October 30.

At the beginning of the week, the Peshawar High Court issued a written order on a petition filed by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council on the deteriorating security situation in the province, and sought answers to six key questions.
