JUI-F chief says nation should “hold good expectations” for the newly appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed hope for a constructive term under new the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi.

In remarks to the media on Saturday.,he stated that the nation should “hold good expectations” for the newly appointed Chief Justice and extended his welcome. "Those who have departed, may Allah keep them happy, and may the new ones follow the Constitution and the law," he added.

Rehman refrained from further commenting on Justice Qazi Faez Isa, stating, “He has completed his term, further commentary serves no purpose.” He emphasised his desire to support the new Chief Justice as he assumes office.

Discussing legislative amendments, Rehman noted that JUI-F contributed as a stakeholder, with input from opposition parties. "There were 56 points initially proposed by the government, and we successfully included five of our own," he explained.

Reflecting on the judicial system, Rehman remarked that the involvement of religious scholars in the legal process remains challenging within the current framework.

He underscored the need for a united stance among political parties to bolster the national economy.
