Illegally captive parrots rescued

The Police Animal Rescue Centre in Rawalpindi has successfully recovered illegally captive parrots and arrested two suspects.

Officials reported that cases have been filed under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against the accused, identified as Niaz and Asim.

The suspects were found to have cut the parrots' wings and neglected their basic needs, leaving them hungry and thirsty.

Acting on a tip-off about the illegal captivity, the Police Animal Rescue Centre conducted a raid and apprehended both individuals while rescuing the parrots.

Separate cases have been registered at the local police station under the Animal Cruelty Act and other relevant provisions. The rescued birds are currently being cared for at the Police Animal Rescue Centre, where they will receive treatment and protection.

A police spokesperson emphasised that the centre is actively dedicated to the welfare of voiceless animals throughout Rawalpindi.
