Video emerges of Wallo warning Lil Durk against retaliating for King Von’s murder
Rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, was arrested in South Florida on October 24 and is currently held in Broward County Jail without bond, facing serious murder-for-hire charges.
The 32-year-old Chicago native and prominent hip-hop figure is awaiting transfer to U.S. Marshals. Durk’s arrest follows the arrests of five other individuals associated with his rap group, Only the Family (OTF), who were also charged with murder-for-hire and conspiracy in connection to the 2022 killing of Saviay’a Robinson, known as Lul Pab, who was shot in Los Angeles.
The federal indictment, filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, claims that flights and rental vehicles for the five accused men were funded through an OTF credit card. Prosecutors allege that these individuals, all Chicago natives, were offered lucrative music opportunities by an unnamed OTF member if they would kill rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo, born Tyquian Terrel Bowman, is suspected of being linked to the 2020 murder of King Von. In 2020, King Von, born Dayvon Bennett, was a close friend and protege of Lil Durk, who was killed by an associate of Quando Rondo after a confrontation outside an Atlanta lounge.
In August 2022, Quando Rondo and his cousin Lul Pab were attacked at a gas station in Los Angeles. Rondo survived the attack, but Lul Pab died from his injuries. Investigators believe the shooting was a retaliatory strike following the death of King Von. This context underscores the motive for Rondo’s alleged targeting.
In a related viral clip from 2022, a poignant episode of the podcast ‘Million Dollars Worth of Game’ has resurfaced where Wallo, born Wallace Peeples, co-host of the podcast, issued a heartfelt warning to Lil Durk against seeking revenge for King Von’s death. Reflecting on his own life, Wallo shared the painful experience of losing his brother to gun violence, recounting, “I forgave my brother’s killer... My brother died in my grandma’s arms in that house we grew up in.” He described the trauma of watching his brother’s last moments but emphasized that letting go of revenge allowed him to move forward and make a positive impact.
Wallo stressed the importance of breaking the cycle of violence, adding, “If I ain't let that go, I wouldn't be here today... I wouldn’t be here for my niece and nephews.” He urged Durk to think about his family and his legacy, saying, “I hope y’all make it out... because if these young Black brothers in the ghetto ever wake up, it’s over.” Wallo’s emotional plea encouraged Durk to find strength in forgiveness, as he himself did, which allowed him to become a role model and guide for young people.
