Jarriel’s storied career spanned 48 years with ABC News, beginning in 1964 when he covered the presidencies of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan, and their three sons.
In 1977, Jarriel became co-anchor of ‘ABC Evening News’ on Saturdays, later joining ‘20/20’ in 1979 as an investigative correspondent. During his tenure, Jarriel highlighted pressing issues like military abuse allegations from female service members and conditions in Romanian orphanages, both of which drew widespread critical acclaim. His investigative approach earned him 10 Emmy Awards, a testament to his influence and dedication.
