Zachary Levi is under fire for controversial comments made on Instagram Live, where he linked the tragic passing of Broadway star Gavin Creel to COVID-19 vaccines.

During the session, Levi stated he believed Creel might still be alive had he not taken the vaccine, attributing Creel’s advanced-stage cancer to vaccination. The claims sparked swift backlash, as experts and fans noted there is no scientific evidence connecting COVID-19 vaccines to cancer development.

Gavin Creel’s official cause of death was a rare, aggressive metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma, with no connection to the vaccine.

Chris Peterson, founder of OnStage Blog, condemned Levi’s remarks, calling them “reckless” and “disrespectful,” as they divert attention from Creel’s legacy in theatre and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community. Peterson urged that the focus should remain on honoring Creel’s life, emphasizing his impactful career and dedication to love and equality.
