KMC building to switch to solar power next week: mayor

Mayor Murtaza Wahab has said that the main KMC building and the mosque within the premises will be switched to solar power from next week. In the next phase, the work to put more buildings and street lights, under KMC, to solar energy will be started, which will reduce the financial burden on KMC, while the additional electricity generated by solar panels will be sold to the KE to generate additional revenue. He was speaking to the media after inspecting the solar panel system installed. Earlier, he was briefed about the newly-installed solar system which incurred a cost of Rs20 million.

A total of 259 solar plates have been installed on the roof of the KMC building, through which 650 to 700 units of electricity will be generated per day.
