ISLAMABAD:

Gallery 6 Islamabad will unveil "Through the Veil of Dreams," a solo exhibition by acclaimed Pakistani artist Tabinda Chinoy, on Friday (today).

The Ambassador of Portugal in Pakistan Frederico Silva will inaugurate the exhibit.

Known for her exceptional work in painting and sculpture, Tabinda's exhibition focuses on her latest collection of paintings, offering a glimpse into her unique artistic vision.

A graduate of the Arts Council, Karachi, Tabinda refined her craft further at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Arts in London. Under the mentorship of the renowned artist and art historian Ali Imam, Tabinda developed her signature use of bright, bold colours and mastered the balance of strokes and textures that characterise her work today.

Speaking of her early influences, she states, "My independent style developed considerably with Ali Imam's guidance. He loved the bright colours I used, which gave my paintings a unique perspective."

"Through the Veil of Dreams" reflects the evolution of Tabinda's artistic journey, spanning more than four decades. Her work is deeply rooted in the human experience, often depicting educated urban women in contemporary portraiture.

These figures, whether solitary or in groups, are captured in postures that speak to their emotional and physical states, while symbolic elements from nature—such as birds, flowers, and skies—surround them.

These elements are not mere background details, but crucial symbols that represent cultural diversity, peace, and hope.
