A prominent tribal elder, Nawabzada Mehboob Jogezai, was injured in an IED attack in Killa Saifullah district of Balochistan on Thursday.

Police told The Express Tribune that his vehicle was struck by a motorcycle-borne explosive device in the Killa Saifullah. The attack also left four others wounded who were traveling with Jogezai in his vehicle.

Police officials confirmed that Jogazai was the target as an explosive-laden motorcycle was detonated near his vehicle, resulting in casualties.

Jogezai, considered to be one of the most influential figures in the region, sustained injuries but his condition is stated to be stable according to hospital sources. District administration claimed that medics are closely monitoring the other injured individuals, though no further updates on their condition have been provided.

Local law enforcement agencies, including police and levies forces, reached the locality and initiated a door-to-door search operation.

Security in the area has been increased as authorities launched an investigation in the case.

Officials are working to determine whether this incident was linked to ongoing tribal conflicts or terrorism.

The attack has resulted in widespread panic in the region as Jogezais are considered among the most influential tribal leaders in the district.
