PM Shehbaz calls overseas Pakistanis 'valuable assets'
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday described overseas Pakistanis as "assets" for their contribution to the country’s economy, urging newly appointed community and labour welfare attachés at foreign missions to focus on securing employment opportunities for skilled workers from Pakistan.
"Overseas Pakistanis who are bringing valuable foreign exchange worth billions of dollars to Pakistan are our assets," Sharif said during a meeting with the attachés at the PM House. He emphasised that the welfare of the expatriate community should be their top priority.
The prime minister directed the officials to promote Pakistan’s image abroad and to seek business and investment opportunities for the country. "Always keep Pakistan’s interests in mind," he added.
The officials briefed the PM on their action plans for their respective postings. The meeting was also attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal, and senior government officials.
