Lauren LaVera, the breakout star from the Terrifier franchise, is set to star alongside two-time Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou in the upcoming horror-thriller The Monster.

Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, known for his work on the Saw franchise, the film follows two millennials who scam people by leasing New York apartments they don’t own, only to discover a deadly secret when they target the wrong owner.

The project, produced by Saw franchise veteran Mark Burg, is slated to begin filming in Danbury, Connecticut, in November. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, who previously worked on Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane.

LaVera’s recent rise to fame through her role in Terrifier 3 has made her one of the most talked-about scream queens in the genre. Hounsou, who recently starred in A Quiet Place: Day One, will bring his experience in thrillers to the project. With a star-studded cast and a gripping plot, The Monster is shaping up to be a highly anticipated addition to the horror genre.
