Chris Hemsworth is reportedly in discussions to star as the titular character in Disney’s new Prince Charming movie, with Paul King set to direct.
According to sources, Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker are co-writing the script alongside King. While Disney has not officially commented on Hemsworth’s involvement, Deadline has confirmed that the actor is in talks to take on the iconic role.
The plot details for the film remain under wraps, but insiders indicate it will not be directly linked to Cinderella, despite Prince Charming’s origin in that story. In Disney’s animated history, Prince Charming has typically been portrayed as the love interest of many classic princesses, including in films such as Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
Hemsworth’s involvement follows a busy year for the actor, which includes starring in Furiosa, a Mad Max prequel, and voicing Optimus Prime in Paramount’s Transformers One. He is also set to appear in Amazon MGM Studios’ thriller Crime 101, which is currently in production.
The InSneider Newsletter was the first to report Hemsworth’s potential involvement in the project, which is still in development.
