Govt rolls out app to monitor institutional performance
The Punjab government has rolled out the Karkardgi App to evaluate the performance of government institutions across the Rawalpindi district.
The app will allow for regular monitoring and reporting, aiming to improve efficiency and accountability in various departments.
At the district level, Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema will oversee the evaluation process, while at the provincial level, the Punjab government will review institutional performance.
Departments meeting performance standards will be encouraged to further improve, while those falling short will face reprimands.
The app, developed under the supervision of the Punjab Information Technology Board on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, enables all departments to upload daily reports, including images, videos, and data-based updates on their activities.
On Monday, Deputy Commissioner Cheema reviewed the initial input from key government bodies, including the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, District Council, Rawalpindi Development Authority, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), health and education sectors, and other local agencies.
These departments are now required to provide daily updates on basic civic amenities such as water supply, sewage systems, street lighting, public parks, and the ongoing anti-dengue and polio campaigns.
According to sources, every government department is mandated to regularly upload performance data to the app and to implement necessary changes based on feedback from higher authorities. The initiative aims to enhance governance, address public concerns, and improve service delivery.
In particular, WASA Rawalpindi has been tasked with ensuring that all 127 mini water filtration plants are fully operational according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that WASA-related manholes are made secure for public safety.
