Protest at Karachi's Shahrae Faisal causes major traffic disruptions

Police confirmed local residents started a protest, later joined by lawyers resulting in closure of the thoroughfare

A protest in Karachi led by local residents and later joined by lawyers resulted in the closure of Shahrae Faisal on Wednesday, causing significant traffic congestion on surrounding roads, as reported by local media.

The police confirmed that the protest initially started at the Kala Pul signal, where residents blocked the road, demanding the police register a case over a personal dispute.

Frustrated by the lack of response from authorities, protesters set a motorcycle on fire, escalating the situation. The demonstration severely disrupted traffic flow, with long queues of vehicles forming on the main artery and adjacent roads.

Later, lawyers joined the protest and began demonstrating on the FTC Flyover, further intensifying the disruption. The protest led to both tracks of Shahrae Faisal being blocked, affecting traffic in the FTC, Defence, and surrounding areas.
