TikTok, in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has announced the launch of a Digital Safety Competition to promote digital safety awareness.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among youth regarding digital safety. As part of the competition, TikTok will invite creators to produce short and impactful videos across six different categories.
The six categories include responsible use of social media, combating online harassment, preventing online fraud, ensuring the safety and well-being of youth, understanding TikTok's safety tools, and addressing misinformation on social media platforms.
Through this competition, TikTok and the PTA aim to promote the trend of verifying information before spreading and sharing digital safety messages among platform users.
By participating in this competition, users will play a role in raising awareness about responsible online behavior and contribute to creating a safe digital environment for everyone.
This partnership between TikTok and the PTA reflects a shared commitment to enhancing digital literacy and safety in Pakistan.
Earlier this week TikTok hosted its first-ever creators’ event in Pakistan, the TikTok Experience, bringing together content creators and publishers from across the country for a one-day event.
Held in Karachi, the event featured panel discussions, interactive workshops, and activities aimed at inspiring and empowering the local TikTok community.
TikTok removes over 30m videos in Pakistan
Previously TikTok removed over 30.7 million videos from its platform in Pakistan during 2024 to strengthen content moderation and promote a safer online space.
According to its second-quarter Community Enforcement Report, 99.5% of these videos were taken down before users could report them, with 97% being removed within 24 hours of upload.
Globally, TikTok deleted more than 178 million videos in the same period, with 144 million removed through automated systems.
