Man charged with murder of Florida rapper Ralan Styles
A man accused of fatally shooting rapper Ralan Styles, whose real name was Michael Robinson, has been charged with murder and given a $2 million bond.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 19, in Columbus, Ohio. Police were called to West 3rd Avenue around 5 a.m., where they discovered 22-year-old Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting reportedly happened during an attempted robbery in which the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Mahamood Hassan, allegedly tried to steal Styles' chain, leading to a confrontation.
Authorities arrested Hassan a short distance from the scene after witnesses provided detailed descriptions. Hassan, who has a criminal history including charges for trespassing and theft, was also identified by witnesses in a photo lineup.
Hassan was arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court on Monday, where the judge set his bond at $2 million. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 29.
Styles, originally from Tallahassee, Florida, was known for his viral hit song 'Baby Shark,' and his death has shocked fans and the music community.
