Fans are reacting to the tragic death of former One Direction star Liam Payne, with theories circulating that he was attempting to escape from his locked hotel room in Buenos Aires by climbing through the balcony.

Payne, who died after falling from the hotel balcony on October 16, was reportedly under the influence of multiple substances.

According to 'ABC News', a partial autopsy revealed that Payne had ingested several drugs, and an "improvised aluminum pipe" was found in his hotel room.

One of the substances found in his system was "pink cocaine," which, according to the National Capital Poison Center, typically contains methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA, and not necessarily cocaine.

'The Sun' reported that Payne sourced the drugs from a hotel worker just hours before his death.

Cristal, a hallucinogenic substance allegedly involved in the incident, is known for inducing psychotic episodes. Several hotel staff members thought to have provided the drugs were reportedly fired, although no official confirmation has been made by authorities.

Fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts, with one user stating, "He had his cap and bag on, it looks like he tried to escape the hotel from the balcony but fell to his death, what a shame."

Others reflected on the possible psychological triggers that Payne may have experienced, with one fan noting, "The locked room gave him PTSD... Someone should have stayed with him."

Speculation about the circumstances leading up to Payne’s death has been met with both empathy and skepticism.

One fan shared, "It’s actually more depressing knowing this all coulda been avoided. Very very unfortunate outcome, man."

Another expressed doubt, asking, "This is absolutely heartbreaking, but I have to ask… what is this based on? Have the police made statements? Or is it 'sources'? Or just someone guessing?"

According to sources, Payne tested negative for drugs just a day before his death but was reportedly "preyed upon" by the hotel staff offering him substances upon arrival.

Payne, who had struggled to maintain sobriety, leaves behind his 7-year-old son, Bear Payne, and was in a relationship with Kate Cassidy at the time of his tragic passing.
