Tom Holland is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s next film, joining Matt Damon in a top-secret project.

The movie, written and directed by Nolan, is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026, by Universal Pictures. According to sources, the film’s plot details are being kept under wraps, though it is confirmed that the setting will not be in the present day.

This new project reunites Nolan with Universal after the success of "Oppenheimer," which grossed $976 million globally and earned Nolan his first Academy Award for Best Director, as well as a Best Picture win for producing. Unlike "Oppenheimer," which Universal acquired through an open auction, this untitled project went directly to the studio.

While Matt Damon has previously worked with Nolan in "Oppenheimer" and "Interstellar" (2014), this marks Holland’s first collaboration with the acclaimed director. Holland’s involvement in the film could create scheduling challenges, as the actor is also expected to appear in "Spider-Man 4" and possibly "Avengers: Doomsday" next year. The delays in the production of "Spider-Man 4" have caused his co-star Zendaya to shift her schedule, now filming "Dune 3" in early 2026 instead of 2025.

Nolan is producing the project through his Syncopy banner, alongside his producing partner and wife, Emma Thomas. Holland, who recently appeared in Apple TV's "The Crowded Room," is represented by WME and Sloane Offer.
