Lok Mela set to showcase cultural diversity

ISLAMABAD:

Lok Mela 2024, Pakistan's largest folk festival, is poised to take place from November 8 to 17 at Lok Virsa, Shakar Parian, in the federal capital.

Lok Virsa is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The festival will provide an opportunity for the public to experience the rich cultural diversity of Pakistan. Pavilions from all four provinces, as well as those from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, will showcase traditional crafts, music, and art. The event will also feature shopping stalls, food stalls offering a variety of local cuisine, and musical programs. The festival will be a celebration of Pakistan's cultural diversity, providing a unique platform for cross-cultural understanding.

Renowned artisans, folk artists, musicians, and dancers from across Pakistan will participate, displaying their creative talents. Lok Virsa Executive Director Muzaffar Burki stated that the event will feature stalls from all ministries, ensuring youth participation.

The mela will offer captivating daily programs, including cultural themes, traditional food stalls, folk music, shopping, children's corners, and open-air theatre concerts. An Art and Craft Bazaar will showcase unique handicrafts and souvenirs.
