South African batter Keshav Maharaj’s bat auctioned for $2836 at Diwali event
A used cricket bat belonging to South African cricketer Keshav Maharaj was sold for $2,836 at an exciting auction during the Msunduzi Diwali Festival, organised by the Midlands Hindu Society.
The auction, which took place on the festival’s second day, saw fierce bidding from attendees, including online participants.
The event culminated in the sale of Maharaj’s cricket bat, with the winning bid placed by Nishal Mohun for his son, Maahir, a Grade 6 pupil from St Charles.
The bidding started at $169 but quickly escalated to $2836.
The auction also featured the sale of a T20 and Indian Premier League T-shirt signed by Maharaj, which was secured by Vishal Parbhoodeen for $847.
Proceeds from the auction will support the Midlands Hindu Society’s Diya of Hope projects and future charitable initiatives.
