Snoop Dogg has a very specific requirement for the actor who will portray him in his highly anticipated upcoming biopic.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 53-year-old music icon revealed that he's been busier than ever, juggling his role as a coach on the 26th season of The Voice and overseeing the casting process for the lead role in his biopic.

First announced in 2022, the much-awaited Snoop Dogg biopic is already generating buzz. Variety had previously reported that the film is being developed by Universal Pictures, with Allen Hughes, the visionary director of Menace II Society and Dead Presidents, on board to direct. The script is penned by none other than Joe Robert Cole, co-writer of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., shared with ET that the search for the perfect actor is still ongoing.

“Actually, I'm looking for somebody who can embody the spirit when I was that young, rough around the edges—trying to discover who I was, and that to me is going to be a phenomenal actor,” he said at the 39-second mark in the video linked above.

What makes this biopic even more monumental is that it’s the first movie from Snoop's very own Death Row Pictures. According to Deadline, the film will also feature music from his legendary catalog. In a major power move, Snoop reclaimed Death Row Records in early 2022 from MNRK Music Group, securing the label that launched his career nearly three decades ago with his debut album Doggystyle.
