Drugs, liquor banned at Bhittai's shrine
The district administration of Matiari has come down hard of the sale of legal and illegal sale of liquor and drugs in and around the shrine of Sufi Saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
The shrine, like many other shrines in the country, had become hub of narcotics dealers with substance abuse victims loitering around begging for money to buy more drugs.
The deputy commissioner of Matiari has banned the sale of liquor to Muslims as well as non-Muslims in the Bhit Shah town and its limits, including the shrine of Sufi Saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
The administration has also cancelled the licenses of the liquor shops for which a notification has also been issued.
Apart from this, a strict ban has been imposed on the sale and use of drugs in the city of Sindh's Sufi Saint. Moreover, smoking has been banned in and around the shrine and its surroundings, eateries, public parks and crowded places per the notification issued by the deputy commissioner.
Strict action will be taken against the violating shopkeepers and citizens. According to the notification, any person addicted to drugs is seen in Bhit Shah and its limits will be taken into custody and admitted to the rehabilitation centre. SHO Bhit Shah has been instructed in the notification that action should be taken against those who violate the mentioned orders.
