Three new provincial authorities planned

CM approves move for development, water and sanitation, horticulture

LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved in principle a proposal to set up provincial authorities for development, water and sanitation, and horticulture.

She approved the establishment of the Punjab Development Authority, Water and Sanitation Authority, and Horticulture Authority while presiding over a meeting.

Legislation will be pursued for establishing the three provincial authorities.

The authorities will formulate policies and plans at the central level, while the development, water and sanitation, and horticulture agencies will ensure their implementation at the local level.

The meeting reviewed proposals for the establishing the governing boards and directorates general for the provincial authorities along with the appointment of management boards and managing directors at the local level.

CM Maryam Nawaz also issued directives to convert the streetlights to solar energy soon.

Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin and Zeeshan Rafique, the chief secretary, principal secretary to CM , relevant secretaries and other senior officials attended the meeting, while the housing and local government secretaries participated via video link.
