Poultry: Quail farm at UVAS upgraded
UVAS has completed upgrade of a quail farm; establishment of a modern quail meat processing plant at a cost of Rs30m

The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Avian Research and Training Centre has completed a project of upgrade of a quail farm and establishment of a modern quail meat processing plant at a cost of Rs30m, Prof Muhammad Akram, the Department of Poultry Production chairman, disclosed on Sunday. He said that UVAS, in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority, had arranged a training programme for quail farmers, especially in the rural areas. Prof Akram said quails produced in the farm were organic and raised without vaccines, medicines, chemicals and hormones, fulfilling international standards of hygiene and bio-security.
