Sindh nationalists protest construction of canals in Punjab

HYDERABAD:

The Sindhi nationalist parties are going to embark on a protest movement to oppose the construction of new canals in Punjab on the River Indus. In this regard, Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) and Sindh Bachao Tehreek took out rallies in Thatta district on Saturday while Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party announced protests in Hyderabad.

A meeting of the Jeay Sindh Rahbar Committee in Hyderabad also notified about holding a protest demonstrations in the coming days.

The STP's chairman Dr Qadir Magsi at a press conference in Hyderabad deplored that Pakistan Peoples Party's Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Hyderabad on October 18 and addressed a public meeting but he made no mention of the threats being faced by the Indus River and the lower riparian province.
