Govt to register mobile population

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sought a practical and sustainable plan to eliminate poliovirus from environmental samples in the province.

Chairing a meeting, she ordered an effective vaccination campaign at all entry points of Punjab. The chief minister called for a comprehensive and effective vaccination initiative to eradicate poliovirus.

A decision was taken during the meeting to track and register the mobile and migrant populations in Punjab.

The chief minister said accurate data on missed children should be compiled during the vaccination campaign. The meeting also reviewed micro-plans and proposals to enhance the effectiveness of the vaccination campaign and make Punjab polio-free.

She reiterated the commitment to make Punjab polio-free. She said she was monitoring the vaccination campaign and underscored that the virus could only be eradicated through vigorous and complete public support.

She said the maintenance of the cold chain according to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the vaccination campaign should be ensured.
