Bill Maher argued on his latest episode of Real Time with Bill Maher that people should stop expecting an “October surprise” to prevent Donald Trump from winning the 2024 presidential election.

During his "New Rules" segment on Friday night, Maher stated that Trump’s numerous controversies and scandals have already desensitized voters. "He’s banged a porn star and attempted a coup... If you’re waiting for an October surprise to knock him out, dream on," Maher said, referring to Trump's ability to withstand major scandals without losing support.

Maher cited the infamous Access Hollywood tape from 2016 as an example, where many believed Trump’s campaign would collapse, but he still went on to win the election. He explained that Trump’s “superpower” lies in his long history of controversial actions, which are no longer surprising to his supporters. "You can’t surprise the voter who has seen it all," Maher emphasized.

However, Maher pointed out that Kamala Harris could be vulnerable to an “October surprise” as she remains relatively undefined in the public eye. The episode featured guests David Hogg, Mark Cuban, and Joe Scarborough.
