KU students end protest after most demand met

The protest by Karachi University students has come to an end after eight days following the negotiations with the administration.

The students were protesting against various issues including fees, poor infrastructure, and shortage of buses. The administration has accepted 11 out of 14 demands of the students.

According to the agreement, the late fee has been reduced from 50 per cent to 10 per cent, whereas re-admission fees will no longer be charged. Students will not be barred from taking exams due to non-payment of fees. However, results will be released only after clearing the dues.

Letters will be sent to the mayor and provincial transport minister to increase point buses. In addition, there will be a 10 per cent increase in evening point buses from the next academic session.

A committee will also be formed to address security concerns. The committee will also comprise representatives from student organisations. Classes will no longer be conducted in dilapidated classrooms.
