While Trump indicated some willingness to involve Haley, he emphasized his overwhelming victory over her in the primary. "Nikki Haley and I fought, and I beat her by 50, 60, 90 points!" Trump said, adding, "I beat her in her own state by numbers that nobody's ever been beaten by! I beat Nikki badly! I beat everyone else too badly!" He boasted about his record-setting win and stated, "Nikki is in, Nikki is helping us already."

Trump’s dismissive tone regarding Haley came despite some Republicans urging him to use her to win over women voters, a demographic where polls show him trailing. Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, had garnered support from women during her primary campaign, and some believe she could help Trump close the gap with female voters in key states.
