Huawei, SIFC launch ICT training for 300,000 youth in Pakistan

Huawei, in collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), has announced plans to train 300,000 young Pakistanis in advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.

This initiative is aimed at enhancing technical education standards by integrating global expertise and modern training resources into the local education system.

The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) will implement the program, following Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China.

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, visited the office of Huawei to discuss the modalities of an extensive training program.

The collaboration with Huawei is expected to provide young Pakistanis with better employment opportunities, improving their economic conditions.

This training initiative also reflects Huawei’s commitment to introducing positive changes in Pakistan’s technical education system, leading to youth development and further economic stability for the country.

The program is set to foster innovation and technological advancements in Pakistan, as it equips the younger generation with the skills required to thrive in a digital economy.

Last week, the premier emphasised the importance of providing quality education and technical training when he was chairing a meeting on the Federal Ministry of Education and Technical Training.

PM Shehbaz also highlighted the growing need for skills development, information technology, and digitalisation in modern educational systems.

Shehbaz Sharif also called for a national curriculum leadership conference to implement a uniform education system across the country.

Additionally, he directed authorities to accelerate the construction of Daanish Schools in underprivileged areas such as Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Balochistan.

The prime minister ordered the establishment of day-care centres in all educational institutions in Islamabad for female teachers and further instructed that e-libraries be set up in parks and recreational spots with free public access to and internet.

In efforts to increase female student enrolment, Shehbaz Sharif proposed monthly stipends for female students in rural areas of Islamabad and directed that technical training be incorporated into school curriculums.
