The highly anticipated Dune prequel series, Dune: Prophecy, is set to debut on November 17, 2024, on HBO and streaming on Max. The six-episode series, which takes place over 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, will delve into the origins of the Bene Gesserit—an influential order of witches shaping the political landscape of the universe.

Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters, played by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, as they battle forces that threaten humanity and lay the groundwork for the fabled Bene Gesserit. Based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, the series brings viewers back to Arrakis, complete with its iconic sandworms and familiar desert landscapes.

The ensemble cast includes Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Corrino, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina as Princess Ynez, and Travis Fimmel, among others. With a strong team behind the scenes, including showrunner Alison Schapker and co-developer Diane Ademu-John, fans can expect a richly detailed return to the Dune universe. The official trailer has already generated buzz, showcasing the immense scale and intrigue that fans have come to expect from the Dune franchise.
