Shehbaz credits coalition efforts for stability

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday hailed the successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government meeting as a major achievement for Pakistan on diplomatic front.

"Pakistan's diplomatic profile further strengthened internationally after successfully hosting this summit," the prime minister said while addressing a banquet organised in honour of senators of the government-allied parties.

Congratulating the political parties' leaders on successful conclusion of the SCO summit in Pakistan, the prime minister said all relevant institutes worked together as a team in this regard.

He said before the SCO meeting, visit of the Chinese Premier also proved to be very successful.

SCO development priorities

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming wherein he reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to work wholeheartedly for promotion of the organization's development priorities for the benefit of all its member states and the wider region.

In the meeting held on the sidelines of the 23rd meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government (CHG), the prime minister stressed that Pakistan stood ready to work with SCO member states to make the organization more effective and stronger.

Recalling Secretary-General Ming's earlier visit to Pakistan in July 2022, Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed him in Islamabad and thanked him for the support extended by the SCO Secretariat to Pakistan in organization of the SCO CHG Meeting.

Pakistan, Mongolia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered to send Mongolian civil servants to training institutions in Pakistan and proposed declaring 2025 as the "Year of Pakistan-Mongolia Friendship" to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

During a meeting with his Mongolian counterpart, Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, both leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, and mining.
