Indian media reveals plot to assassinate Salman Khan with weapons smuggled from Pakistan
An INR2.5 million contract was arranged to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan near his Panvel farmhouse, according to a chargesheet filed by Navi Mumbai police, as reported by Indian media on Thursday.
The chargesheet alleged that plans were made to purchase high-powered weapons from Pakistan, including AK-47, AK-92, M16 rifles, and a Zigana pistol, the same type used in the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang is believed to be behind the plot, which unfolded between August 2023 and April 2024.
Sukha, who was recently arrested in Haryana, is accused of coordinating with an arms dealer and assigning Ajay Kashyap to target Khan.
It was also reported that several individuals were monitoring the actor’s movements in the city. The gang’s escape plan involved fleeing to Sri Lanka via Kanyakumari after carrying out the assassination.
In light of these developments, security around Salman Khan has been heightened, especially on the set of Bigg Boss 18's 'Weekend Ka Vaar', where he is scheduled to shoot on October 18.
According to Indian media, strict monitoring is in place and no one is allowed to linger near the set to ensure his safety. All staff members involved in the production will be required to submit their details to the production house, it added.
