Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has shared why she left Argentina just hours before the former One Direction member's tragic death. Payne, 31, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, after falling from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires.

Cassidy had left the country before the incident, explaining on social media that she felt their trip had lasted too long. In a TikTok post, she said, "I was so ready to leave… we were supposed to be there for five days, [it] turned into two weeks."

Cassidy returned home to Florida and did not specify why Payne chose to stay behind. In the TikTok video, she shared footage of her luxurious flight home and joked about her seat number being "1D," referencing Payne's former band, One Direction. Approximately 48 hours after her departure, Payne was found dead after falling around 13 to 14 meters, according to local authorities.

Emergency services responded to reports of a man acting aggressively in the hotel. The city's emergency medical service director, Alberto Crescenti, confirmed that Payne suffered "severe injuries incompatible with life" and that resuscitation was not possible. The hotel’s management called the police after hearing a loud noise, and Payne's body was discovered in the hotel’s internal courtyard.

Payne had been in Argentina to support his former bandmate, Niall Horan, who was performing in the city. Cassidy’s social media post gave no indication of any issues between the couple before her departure.
