Liam Payne, former member of the iconic band One Direction, passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Payne’s sudden death has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and celebrities, with many expressing shock and sadness.

Singer Charlie Puth tweeted, “I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. I cannot believe he is gone...may he rest in peace,” while musician Zedd added, “RIP Liam… I can’t believe this is real…absolutely heartbreaking.”

However, Payne’s ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, has been the target of hateful comments on social media in the wake of his death. Several users have posted hurtful messages on her Instagram, including comments like, “You should be so happy now” and “Are you happy now?! It’s all your fault.” Despite the backlash, some fans have defended Henry, arguing that she is not responsible for Payne’s actions. One supportive comment read, “She’s not responsible for another person’s actions...chronically online people love to make someone the villain.”

Before Payne’s death, Henry had previously spoken about being targeted by One Direction fans after their breakup. According to Daily Mail, Henry had reportedly sent Payne a cease-and-desist letter, alleging continued contact from him despite their split in 2018.
