Years before his tragic death, Liam Payne once issued a chilling apology for a dangerous balcony stunt that has now taken on new significance.

The former One Direction star, who passed away after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, had previously called his own actions "stupid and irresponsible" after sharing a photo of himself balancing on a balcony ledge.

At the time, Payne took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his regret, tweeting, "You may have seen a photo of me today taken on top of a building. I regret being there and having a photo taken. It was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. I am sorry, and do not endorse any fans trying to repeat this, as it is extremely dangerous."

The image was quickly removed, but his words now echo eerily in light of his tragic passing.

Payne, who had struggled with personal challenges following One Direction's split, was in Argentina at the time of his death.

Emergency services responded to an incident at a luxury hotel in Buenos Aires’ Palermo neighborhood, where police encountered a reportedly intoxicated and combative Payne. Tragically, he was found dead in the hotel’s interior courtyard.

In the weeks leading up to his death, Payne attended a concert by former bandmate Niall Horan and had candidly discussed his battles with addiction and time in rehab.

Just hours before the fatal fall, Payne had been active on Snapchat, sharing updates about his adventures in Argentina, including horseback riding and playing polo, and expressing excitement about reuniting with his dog back home.

His earlier apology for the balcony stunt, now resurfaced, adds an unsettling layer to the heartbreaking event.
