Student protesters clash with police, block roads

FIR registered against 25 unidentified students for disrupting traffic

CHAK JHUMRA:

Tensions escalated in Faisalabad as dozens of students from a local private college protested, blocking roads and clashing with police, following allegations of sexual abuse at a college in Lahore.

The protesters pelted stones, chanted slogans and engaged in a standoff with law enforcement. The demonstration took place in the Batala Colony area, where students expressed their outrage over the alleged incident in Lahore.

The protesters demanded action against the individuals involved in the alleged abuse.

As the protest grew, students began throwing stones at the campus and towards police officers who attempted to intervene.

The situation quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, with the police responding by using baton charges and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Several students were detained during the operation and transferred to the Batala Colony police station.

The confrontation led to chaos on Sattiana Road and Gaitaanwala Chowk, transforming the area into a battleground.

After the police increased their presence, the students fled the scene, but protests continued in other parts of Faisalabad.

An FIR has been registered against 25 unidentified students for their involvement in blocking roads, chanting slogans, and throwing stones.

The FIR, lodged by ASI Shahjahan of the Saddar police station, alleges that students violated Section 144 by protesting on Jaranwala Road and engaging in violent activities.

A case has been registered under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), and the police are searching for the involved students.
