Assembly fumes at K-P House raid

Speaker orders registration of FIRs in Peshawar, Islamabad

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has ordered that cases be filed in Peshawar and Islamabad regarding the actions and vandalism of the federal police at the K-P House in Islamabad, based on the report of the special committee.

The chief secretary, IG Police, and secretary administration have been summoned for the registration of the cases.

During a recent session of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, the chairman of the special committee, Munir Ahmad Laghmani, presented an initial report on the alleged attack on the KP House in Islamabad on October 5, which was related to the detention of Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur and the subsequent losses at K-P House.

The parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Ahmad Kundi, stated that all aspects were reviewed by the committee, and it was unanimously decided that action should be taken against the Islamabad police.

He added that the employees of the K-P House were terrified after the incident, and a case will be registered against those involved in the raid. Kundi noted that the attack occurred on the October 5, and no one has visited the K-P House until October 15.

He emphasised that if the bureaucracy does not want to work, they should say so, as there was an attack on their home, yet no FIR has been registered.

JUI-F member Adnan Wazir suggested that all assembly members should file privilege motions against the relevant officials.

Speaker Babar Saleem Swati stated that the law minister should take note, as this is a serious issue. "The K-P House in Islamabad is the territory of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa."
