Dengue cases surge in Punjab with 172 new infections reported in 24 hours

The Punjab Health Department reported 172 new cases of dengue fever in the province over the last 24 hours, with Rawalpindi accounting for the majority at 157 cases, as reported by local media.

According to the latest statistics, Lahore recorded eight new cases, while Jhelum reported two. Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Sargodha, and Okara each logged one case. Over the past week, Punjab has seen a total of 904 new dengue infections, bringing the annual tally for 2024 to 3,771 cases.

In light of the escalating outbreak, the health department assured the public that adequate measures are in place to combat the spread of the virus, with sufficient medicine stock available in all public hospitals across the province.
