A three-storey building in Karachi’s old city area near Pan Mandi collapsed on Wednesday morning, Express News reported.
The structure, which was in a deteriorating condition, came down suddenly during demolition work. Authorities confirmed there were no casualties.
The building, located within the jurisdiction of Risala Police Station, was part of the city's historical heritage.
Police and rescue teams arrived swiftly on the scene to clear debris.
According to police officials, the building was being dismantled by workers when it unexpectedly collapsed.
Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident. Rescue services, including 1122 personnel, have commenced clearing the rubble.
The collapsed building was considered a historical site and part of the city's architectural heritage. Investigations are ongoing to ensure safety protocols were followed during the demolition.
Earlier in July, a section of a another dilapidated building constructed during the British colonial era on Burns Road collapsed, luckily causing not loss of life or damage to any other property.
As per details, a portion on the second floor of the historic building caved in to heavy monsoon downpour.
The concrete debris fell on the sidewalk below, but causing no harm as no one was there at the time.
