Police vehicle targeted by remote-controlled bomb in Buner

Four police officers were injured in Buner after a remote-controlled bomb targeted their vehicle.

A remote-controlled bomb explosion in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province's Buner district has injured four police officers

The blast targeted a mobile police vehicle from the Ambela checkpoint at the Konkoe area, Express News cites police sources.

Authorities say a remote-controlled device was detnoated near a police vehicle, injuring four officers. Upon receiving the report, law enforcement agencies swiftly reached the scene and shifted the wounded personnel to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigators collected evidence from the blast site as a probe into the incident went under way.

The blast site was cordoned off, and police combing the nearby areas to identify those responsible for the attack.

Last month, in another event, at least 11 policemen were martyred and three others injured in a severe attack by bandits in the Kacha area of Rahim Yar.

The assailants targeted police vehicles with rocket launchers at the Machhka Camp 2, where officers were rotating shifts. The camp had been set up to curb the movement of bandits in the region.

Around 25 heavily armed bandits carried out the attack, destroying the police vehicles and killing 11 policemen on the spot. Three others sustained injuries.

In response, a large contingent of district police has been dispatched to the scene, led by District Police Officer Imran. Ambulances have also been called to the area.

A Punjab Police spokesperson confirmed that two vehicles returning from their weekly duty in the Kacha area were attacked by rocket launchers.
