Imran receives medical attention

Barrister Gohar confirms jail visit by two doctors

ISLAMABAD:

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali confirmed on Tuesday that doctors were finally able to meet with the party's founder, Imran Khan, at Adiala Jail.

The development came a day after the PTI called off its planned protest, which had been a bone of contention until the authorities relented. The party's decision to back off was contingent upon the government allowing medical access to Imran and facilitating a thorough check-up.

In a statement on Tuesday, Barrister Gohar revealed, "At around 4pm today, two doctors, including an ENT specialist and a general physician, visited Adiala Jail to conduct a medical examination of Khan sahab."

He further added, "We were informed earlier that, by the grace of God, Khan sahab is in good health and has even completed an hour of exercise today."

Barrister Gohar mentioned that they would soon receive the medical reports and share the details with everyone. He expressed his gratitude to all PTI workers and supporters who were concerned about the health of the party's founder.

"I want to thank each and every PTI supporter for their concern about Khan sahab's well-being," Barrister Gohar added.

Earlier, reports had said that the personal physician of the PTI founder, Dr Asim Hussain, was denied entry into Adiala Jail after failing to present his professional credentials to the security staff.

PTI had earlier threatened a protest at Islamabad's D-Chowk if medical attention was not provided to their leader. The party eventually called off the protest after receiving assurances from the government that Imran Khan would be given proper medical care.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had reached out to PTI leadership, ensuring that a team of doctors would be sent to Adiala Jail for the examination. Following this development, PTI leadership decided to halt preparations for the protest.

"We have postponed the protest, but it remains on the table if our demands are not fully met," Barrister Gohar said in a video statement.

He emphasised that the protest was conditional, and with the government fulfilling their primary concern, PTI saw no reason to continue the demonstration for now.

The medical team, including Imran Khan's personal physician, is expected to provide a comprehensive health report soon, easing concerns raised by PTI regarding their leader's condition in jail.
