RAWALPINDI:

In response to the rising dengue outbreaks in Rawalpindi, the Punjab government has launched a comprehensive anti-dengue campaign in collaboration with local charitable organizations. Former MPA Tehseen Fawad has been appointed as the focal person for this initiative.

Under Fawad's leadership, the Department of Social Welfare convened a meeting at the Divisional Directorate Office, gathering representatives from over 20 charitable organizations, including Reality Welfare Organisation, Tanzeem-e-Nojwanan, Panah, and SOS. The meeting was also attended by Divisional Deputy Director Rana Shahid.

During the meeting, Fawad emphasised the commitment of the Punjab chief minister to protect Rawalpindi residents from dengue. He urged all organizations and NGOs to launch a widespread awareness campaign to educate citizens about prevention measures.

Fawad called for NGOs in Rawalpindi to conduct seminars in their communities, distribute informational pamphlets, and display awareness banners in public spaces. He stressed that a collaborative effort between the government and the public is essential to combat the dengue epidemic effectively.

Divisional Director Rana Shahid highlighted that the Department of Social Welfare is actively mobilising resources in light of the dengue threat, with specific targets assigned to each NGO to enhance public awareness.

To kick off the campaign, an awareness walk was held at Jalebi Chowk, attended by all participating NGOs, Tehseen Fawad, and other officials.
