Kamala Harris responds to Trump’s town hall-turned ‘music fest’: ‘Hope he's okay’
Vice President Kamala Harris responded to former President Donald Trump’s unusual conclusion to his Pennsylvania town hall on October 14, 2024, after the event was interrupted by two separate medical emergencies. Following the disruptions, Trump chose to play music rather than return to the scheduled Q&A, transforming the event into an impromptu “music fest.” Trump danced and swayed to songs such as "YMCA" by the Village People, Rufus Wainwright's "Hallelujah," and Guns N' Roses' "November Rain," prompting mixed reactions from attendees.
Harris took to social media early on Tuesday, reposting a comment from her team that criticized Trump’s behavior during the event. Her campaign’s X post read that Trump "appears lost, confused," to which Harris added, "Hope he’s okay." Harris’s remark is part of her ongoing criticism of Trump’s fitness to serve as he campaigns for the 2024 presidential election. The 59-year-old Vice President has recently been vocal about Trump’s age and performance, pressing for him to release updated medical records.
Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung defended the former president's decision to turn the event into a "music fest," calling it a “lovefest” and saying, "nobody wanted to leave and wanted to hear more songs from the famous DJT Spotify playlist!" Harris and her team, however, have emphasized Trump’s recent public missteps, questioning his ability to lead. In the days leading up to the town hall, Harris called Trump "increasingly unstable and unhinged" during a rally in Pennsylvania.
