Zakir Naik calls for unity among Muslims

Expresses joy at returning to Pakistan after 33 years

LAHORE:

Prominent Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik has called upon Muslims worldwide to unite and adhere strictly to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah to solve the challenges faced by the community.

Speaking at various events in Lahore, Dr Naik emphasised that the Quran is the ultimate guidance for all of humanity and urged Muslims to avoid divisive issues, such as minor variations in religious practices, and instead focus on worshipping Allah.

Dr Naik highlighted his specialty in inviting non-Muslims to Islam, noting that his mission is to spread the message of Islam with a broad, inclusive approach.

He shared his experiences of learning from various Islamic scholars, stressing that true scholars guide people towards Allah, whereas some others focus on personal gains.

During his visit to the Badshahi Mosque, Dr Naik guided a young non-Muslim to recite the Kalima Tayyaba, officially embracing Islam.

He remarked that all religious scriptures point towards the oneness of God and that Muslims have made significant contributions to fields like physics and chemistry.

He reminded the audience that the Quran is the final book of guidance for humanity and that reconnecting with its teachings is essential.

Dr Naik expressed his joy at returning to Pakistan after 33 years and praised the country's people for their love and hospitality, which, he noted, exceeded his expectations.

Reflecting on his early days in India, he shared how his speeches in English were welcomed by people of various faiths, though he faced opposition when delivering speeches in Urdu.

He criticised the state of the Muslim world, stating that disunity and distancing from the Quran and Hadith have led to the challenges faced today. Dr Naik concluded by urging Muslims to strengthen their bond with the Quran and Hadith, stressing that these texts offer solutions to all problems.

He also commented on the situation in Gaza, calling for more than just speeches, and encouraged Muslims to invite others towards the message of Islam. According to him, 25% of the world's population is Muslim, and if they follow the Quran and Hadith diligently, they will rise once again.

Dr Naik further encouraged the learning of Arabic to better understand Islamic teachings, adding that unity within the Muslim community is crucial for progress.

Earlier, Dr Zakir Naik met with President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif acknowledged and praised Dr Naik's significant contributions to Islamic teachings. The discussion took place in a cordial atmosphere, where both leaders exchanged views on various religious and social matters.
